Polyphenols

Polyphenols are getting significant (and much deserved) attention today from the health industry for its innate superpowers. Derived from plants, polyphenols can help to counteract damage from free radicals which some consider as a factor in one of today’s leading causes of death. If you follow Dr. Stephen Gundry, then you have likely learned all about polyphenols and the health benefits they provide. Such benefits include having an anti-inflammatory effect, providing digestive support, providing mental clarity and acting as an antioxidant.

Regarding polyphenols in food, their structure and level of health support can vary depending on many factors such as its origin including climate and how it was farmed. Olive oil, ginger, turmeric and flax all contain polyphenol properties which are some ingredients that I try to pack into my diet. You can even find polyphenol supplements on the market today.

I do my very best to include ingredients rich in polyphenols in my recipes as often as possible knowing I will reap the rewards.
