Happy Halloween

Halloween is my favorite holiday event of all. Every year we anticipate the season watching all of our favorite Halloween movies like Hotel Transylvania, Hocus Pocus and What Lies Beneath just to name a few. In October, we slowly set up our indoor and outdoor decor which includes skeletons, hanging ghosts, mums and a variety of colorful pumpkins and gourds. And then for trick-or-treat night, that’s when we really amp things up for the neighborhood. Our hand holding witches dance around the beautiful maple tree, our spooky Sleepy Hollow tree is all lit up as well as our lanterns, our black crows sit around the front door and the reaper stands tall in the driveway. Our neighbors also go all out with fog, lightning and thunder, organ music, etc. and the kids just love it! Whole families trade tricks for treats including the dogs who are even decked out in costumes. We have nearly 200 kids come through our neighborhood so having lots of treats on hand is necessary. Our kitties are always very interested as to why the doorbell keeps ringing and why lots of kids are waiting to dig for candy. One year we had Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin movie playing and one little toddler wanted to come right in and watch it with us. Our neighborhood is the best place to be during this event, because it is truly all about and for the kids.

We wish you all a very spooky and fun filled Halloween!
