Mexican Oregano

If there is one spice that can totally finish a Mexican dish and have a major impact, it’s Mexican oregano. Mexican dishes just don’t taste the same without this incredibly bold flavor. Native to Mexico, it is earthy, pungent and much stronger than the Mediterranean version.

It is typically found in its whole leaf form which I love to hand crush directly over the dish I am preparing. The aroma that is released in the air is bold and quite herbal.

This spice makes a regular appearance in my Mexican cooking which I hope to share recipes with you soon!

If Mexican oregano has yet to have a place in your cooking, do not hesitate to make a permanent space in your spice pantry for it. Most Mexican dishes require only a little bit of this distinct seasoning to totally transform the overall flavor.
