September is one of my favorite months of the year. It embraces the transition between summer and fall as if it’s a season all to itself.  Cooler nights arrive at last. Pumpkins start showing up at the market. Fall decor is unveiled. Mums begin to reveal their color. And the bounty of the season’s harvest seems to know no limit. And who doesn’t love the first day of Autumn or a bold and beautiful Harvest Moon?

For me, this is a time to start testing and planning recipes. With school and sports in full swing as well as the holidays right around the corner, entertaining preparation is a requisite activity for the season. I look to delicious lectin free soups, quick bites and sweets since all three can either serve a large or small crowd.

I plan to make the Cocoa Beet Brownies, Flax Bread and Sticky Ginger Chicken Wings this month just to name a few. And I hope you try them, too!
